July 28, 2022 - Troyes, France

Bright and early yesterday morning, I got on bus #BAS23 in Mussy-sur-Seine and got off in Bar-sur-Seine, then got on a connection bus #BAS25 and went to Troyes.  Trying to get an accurate schedule for these buses was a bit challenging.  The schedule posted at the bus stop itself was for 2018 (I think a little bit has changed since then, don’t you?) and the bus driver himself, gave me a partial schedule for today (as per my request/questioning of him earlier in the week).  The little bit that I could translate on their website sounded like everything was completely different because it was not during the school year and the current schedule was on holiday time.  However, the two schedules looked identical!  The only time that all of the schedules agreed on was the first pick-up in the morning at 6:33am.  So, that’s the one I took.  It got me to Troyes at 8:10 in the morning.  Riding through many of the small towns between Mussy and Troyes was very interesting and revealing, since these buses were also used as the town’s School Buses for each community.  Being in the Champagne region of France, we passed a number of well known Champagne distributors like Moët, etc…

Using a website called nannybag, a site that finds luggage storage for you, it said that there were two possible locations near the train/bus station in Troyes.  So, thinking that I could leave my bags and wander around the city unimpeded, I was looking forward to a few hours in Troyes.  However, upon arrival, neither of the two places were open any longer.  So, I carted my bags around with me for nearly 4 miles of wandering in Troyes.  In the time that I had, however, I got to explore four or five churches and got a snapshot of the city itself.  Here are some of my pictures:

The town of Troyes:

There were several sculptures throughout the city and one church (Church of Saint Pantaleon) in particular that had some amazing sculptures within it.
